Palmers Garden Centre is a fourth-generation, family-run business, founded originally as a nursery in 1911 by George and Julia Palmer. It was established at St John's in 1916 and the change from nursery to garden centre began in the '60's. The retail side of the business has rapidly expanded in the last few years, and now a visit to Palmers can be an outing that includes a meal and drink while you browse among the plants and gifts and much more…
We have always understood the importance of growing quality plants, and we strive to maintain our reputation as expert growers. We aim to provide a first-class service, offering advice, knowledge and time to each individual customer.

We are open 7 days a week, except Easter Sunday, Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Years Day

The Greenhouse Café opened in 1999, fulfilling customer demand and providing a relaxing, refuelling stop. The café is now an intrinsic part of our business and a visit to the Garden Centre isn't complete without sampling some of their fare. We have indoor seating for 90 and a wonderful undercover terrace area outside giving seats for a further 40, overlooking displays of outdoor plants.
